Smith, 84, of 1672 Grace Ave., Lebanon, formerly of Skelp, died at 3:05 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2006 at VA Medical Center, Lebanon. He was born January 15, 1922 in Altoona, a son of George W. and Ethel (Dixon) Smith. He married Margaret M. Riley, who survives at home. Mr. Smith was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sinking Valley. He retired from Altoona Area School District in maintenance/carpentry. He was a WWII PFC Army Veteran and loved fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife, a son James H. Smith of Lebanon, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a sister Veran Pearson of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by a brother Revere Smith. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, September 21 at St. John's Church, Sinking Valley. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Elizabeth Hess. Interment at St. John's Cemetery.
