All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ JAMES SMITH, A veteran of the Civil war, died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Glass, five miles west of East Freedom, death being due to a complication of diseases. He was ill for six months. He was aged 80 years. His wife, who was Miss Emma Ickes, died twenty years ago. Surviving are three daughters and two sons; Mrs. William Glass of East Freedom, Mrs. Abram Harris of Osceola Mills, Charles Smith of Duncansville, Harrison Smith of East Freedom and Mrs. Jess Weyandt of East Freedom. The funeral will be held from the home of Mrs. Glass on Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Gerig of the Lutheran church.
