MRS. KATE SMITH.

  Mrs. Kate Smith, a former resident of Chicago, Ill., who made her 
home with her niece, Mrs. Catherine Malloy, of 804 Eighth street, died 
at her home at 5 o'clock Saturday morning, of bronchitis.  She was born 
in Ireland 62 years ago and spent most of her life in Chicago.  Her 
husband died twenty-four years ago and twelve years ago she came to 
Altoona to make her home in this city.  She was a member of Our Lady of 
Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic church.  The body was taken yesterday to 
Chicago, where the funeral mass will be held and burial made.
