SMITH Aged 68, of Harrisburg, a former resident of Altoona and founder of the Brotherhood Relief and Compensation fund, died in Harrisburg yesterday morning. He was born in Trough Creek valley, Huntingdon county, a son of Thomas G. and Mary (Donoghue) Smith, and was a former passenger locomotive engineer on the Middle division. He founded the brotherhood fund in 1912 and had served as president of the organization since 1918. Mr. Smith left Altoona in 1911. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertha (Johnson) Smith; four brothers and four sisters, J. G., Samuel H. and C.C. Smith, all of Altoona, Harry of Ohio, Mrs. Marian Hess of Robertsdale, Mrs. Jenny *Pmcin* of Chicago, Mrs. Serena Moore of Altoona and Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Lewistown. Mr. Smith was a member of the Sixth Street United Brethren church in Harrisburg but while a resident of Altoona had been a member of the Second United Brethren church. He held membership in Altoona lodge; No. 287, B. of L. E. A memorial service will be held next Monday evening in the Brotherhood Relief and Compensation Fund building at Sixth and Maclay streets, Harrisburg.
