Smith, died at her home on Plum Creek, Taylor township, on Wednesday morning at 7 o'clock. She was aged 60 years, 7 months and 26 days. Mrs. Smith was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Showalter, both deceased. But one member of this family of twelve children now remains, Jacob Showalter of Henrietta. She was united in marriage to John W. Smith on September 12, 1889. To this union seven children were born, five of whom survive: Mrs. Chester Hann, of Roaring Spring; Howard Andrew Smith, David Earl Smith, Franklin Calvin Smith and Mrs. George S. Beach, all of Plum Creek. Eight grandchildren also survive. At the age of fifteen years she became a member of the Reformed church at Beavertown, and remained a faithful and consistent member throughout her life. After her marriage she changed her membership to the church at East Sharpsburg. She dearly loved her church and was a faithful attendant as long as health permitted. Mrs. Smith was a kind and generous woman, a loving wife and mother. She is leaving a large vacancy in her home and will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at the East Sharpsburg church Friday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. E. S. Noll. Interment in the cemetery near the church.
