RUSSELL B. SMITH

Of East Freedom RD, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 1977, at 1:50 p.m. at Nason 
Hospital, Roaring Spring, after an extended illness. He retired Sept. 
9, 1935, from the Samuel Rea Shop as a security policeman. Mr. Smith 
was born April 12, 1901, in East Freedom, the son of George W. and 
Samantha (Butler) Smith, and May 12, 1923, was married to Goldie V. 
Diehl. Surviving are his wife and five children, Mrs. Betty Bartley of 
Hollidaysburg, Mervyn of Imler RD, Robert L. of Claysburg, Mrs. Donna 
Claar of Claysburg RD and Mrs. Darlene Auker of East Freedom; eight 
grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four sisters and brothers, 
Mrs. Lillie Bowser of East Freedom, Mrs. Calvin Peeters of 
Hollidaysburg and Irvin and Sherman of East Freedom RD. Mr. Smith 
attended the Queen Gospel Hall. Friends will be received in the Marvin 
C. Leslie Funeral Home, Claysburg, from 4 to 9 p.m. today, and in the 
Upper Claar Church of the Brethren from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
