He was a son of James and Jennie Smith, and was born in Freedom township, July 4, 1881. He was married to Miss Etta Marsden in 1907. He is survived by his wife and a son, Russell, his father, three sisters and two brothers, as follows: Mrs. Minnie Smith Showalter, of East Sharpsburg; Mrs. George Heuston, of Rodman; Mrs. Pearl Shaw, of Newry; George, of Freedom township, and Harvey, of Newry.
