Smouse died at the residence of his son, Sheldon R. Smouse, at 511 Fifteenth street, last evening at 8.15 o'clock of heart trouble, aged 71 years. He had resided at 806 Twenty-seventh street up until a month ago, when he was removed to the son's home. He was born on March 29, 1847 in Martinsburg, and was employed up until his last illness in May at the Schwartzenbach-Huber silk mills. He was a member of the First Brethren church and is survived by his wife, and two sons, Sheldon R. of this city, and W. A. in Albert, W.Va. Several brothers and sisters also survive with five grand-children. Private funeral services will be held at the late residence on Fifteenth street, followed by private interment at Brook's Mills.
