Martinsburg, March 14. - Jacob W. Smouse, janitor of the public school building, died very suddenly at his home at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning. He had risen at 5:30 and went to the school building, where he was engaged in his usual tasks, when he was stricken about 9 o'clock. He was removed to his home dying shortly after arriving. Mr. Smouse was born May 20, 1848, at Henrietta, being a son of Michael and Dorothy Smouse and was married May 23, 1876, to Mary Smith, by whom he is survived, with these children: Edgar, Mrs. J. W. Colbert, Mrs. Edith Soudnour, all of Martinsburg, and Miss Wilda and home, at by three sisters: Mrs. S. S. Nicodemus, Martinsburg; Mrs. Nancy Stonerook, of Roaring Spring, and Mrs. Barbara Coy, of Saxton. He was a member of the First Brethren church and has been employed as janitor of the school building the past five years. Funeral services will be held from the home Sunday afternoon at 3:30 and on Monday morning the cortege will proceed to Vinco, Cambria county for interment.
