MARTINSBURG MATTERS.

While we write the bell is tolling the departure of John Smouse, one
of the early pioneers of this settlement.  Long years have been
extended to Mr. Smouse, but the shadowy side have been spent in
feebleness and suffering, yet with patience he bore them all and his
end was peace.
