East Tyrone

  Death has entered our quiet little town again and taken  from our 
midst one of our noblest women.  Mrs. David Snyder, a kind wife, a 
loving mother and a good neighbor, died last Thursday forenoon, aged 42 
years, 1 month and 6 days.  She had been confined some two weeks before 
her death and seemed to be getting along well, until Wednesday she said 
to her husband that she had no appetite and thought she ought to have 
something to strengthen her.  Mr. Snyder went for the doctor, and when 
he came he did not give her any encouragement, but they still did not 
think death was so near.  During the night she grew worse and early in 
the morning the doctor told Mr. Snyder there was no hope for her.  The 
minister was there to pray with her and point her to the Lamb of God 
that takes away the fear of death.  At her request, the friends sang a 
song, the "Sweet By and By," and during the singing she praised the 
Lord for His goodness to her.
  She was a woman who always thought a great deal of her children, and 
in the morning she said if she could only see her son, Will, she could 
die in peace.  He was telegraphed for but too late to reach home before 
her pure spirit had taken its flight to the God who gave it.
  She leaves a kind husband and eight children to mourn their loss.  
Two of her children preceded her to that heavenly shore where she now 
has joined them.  The infant son she left behind is a little over two 
weeks old and is being taken care of by her only daughter, Minnie, with 
a motherly solicitude.  
  The bereaved family have our sympathy in their sad and irretrievable 
loss, but weep not for her for she is now in that "home of the soul" 
where all is light and love and joy.
