Snyder, of 1412 Second street, died at his home, last night at 11:15 o'clock. He was aged 19 years and was the son of Mahlon and Catherine Snyder. Funeral notice later. Altoona Tribune, Thursday morning, August 29, 1918, page 10 MAHLON S. SNYDER, JR. Hablon Stouch Snyder, jr., a former solider boy of the city, died at the home of his parents, 1412 Second street, at 11:15 o'clock Wednesday night of pleuro- pneumonia. He was ill but six days. Deceased was the son of Mahlon A. and Catherine G. Snyder and was born in this city on October 22, 1898. Last June he became fired with the patriotism that has made thousands of boys enlist to fight and die for their country's flag and he enlisted in the U.S. army medical corps and was sent to the Columbus barracks. He was taken ill there with pneumonia and was finally honorably discharged and returned home. He never fully recovered. He is survived by his parents and one sister, Mrs. James R. Fleck and two brothers, John Edward with the U.S. army in France and James L. at home. The funeral will take place Saturday morning with services at St. Mari's Catholic church at 9 o'clock.
