SNYDER Died from Injuries Received in Motor Wreck Last evening at 8:30 o'clock, William C. Snyder, well known retired Pennsylvania railroad passenger conductor, died in the State hospital, Philipsburg. The readers of the Herald are acquainted with the sad accident that occurred on the Sandy Ridge cut-off on Sunday night, in which Mr. Snyder received injuries that proved fatal. Early this week pneumonia set in that called him away suddenly last evening. William Cassidy Snyder was born at Bald Eagle, May 10, 1860, the son of the late David and Anna Williams Snyder. On July 13, 1885, at Tyrone, he was united in marriage with Miss Anna Kreiss who, with the following daughters and sons survive to mourn his going away; Mrs. B. W. Johnson, Tyrone; Mrs. Frank Hall, Milesburg; Fred Snyder, William D. Snyder, Miss Mamie Snyder, Miss Verna Snyder, Miss Louise Snyder, Oscar C. Snyder, and Chester K. Snyder, all of Tyrone. Twenty-one grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one brother, Samuel Snyder, and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Peary, of Tyrone, also survive. Mr. Snyder was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Conductors and Tyrone lodge, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. William Snyder had railroaded nearly fifty-three years and at the time of his death was a member of the P.R.R. honor roll. He began railroading in the days when railroading was dangerous, when trains were coupled with the old link and pin. One of the most dangerous wrecks he was ever in was the Walter L. Main wreck at McCanns Crossing on May 30, 1893. He was a man of quiet demeanor, a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and citizen. Funeral services will be conducted at the family home, 107 Meadow street, on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, by Rev. Bert A. Salter, assisted by Rev. Samuel W. Strain. Interment in Grandview cemetery. Tyrone Daily Herald, Tyrone, Pa, August 18, 1934
