At five minutes after the noon hour Saturday, Herman Speaker died at his home in Antis township, from a complication of diseases. Mr. Speaker was born in Germany on January 30, 1852, and was therefore aged 47 years, 11 months and 6 days. When 16 years old he came to this country and settling in Altoona, learned the trade of a butcher which he followed until ill health caused him to retire. Of late years he had been employed as a mine foreman by the Dougherty Coal company. He is survived by his widow and three children: Mrs. Annie Meier, of Charleroi, Pa.; Mrs. Lizzie Hamher, of 1209 Eight street, Altoona, and Charles at home. Two brothers and sisters, residing in Germany, also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at his late home at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Interment in Asbury cemetery.
