SPERRY DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS First Ward Piano Dealer Succumbs at His Home Yesterday Afternoon Henry C. Sperry, the well known piano dealer residing at 1215 Eleventh street, died at his home yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, following a lengthy illness, due to a complication of diseases. Mr. Sperry had been in failing health for the last three years, but was confined to his bed during the past fifteen weeks. He was engaged in business here nearly a quarter century and for fourteen years conducted a piano agency and establishment at 1215 Eleventh street, representing the Baldwin Piano company. Prior to embarking in the piano business Mr. Sperry was manager of the Wheeler, Wilson Sewing Machine company, in this district, and had formerly held a similar berth with the Singer Sewing Machine company. He was one of the best residents of the First ward and was keenly interested in civic and municipal affairs. Henry Caperon Sperry was the son of Lewis and Elizabeth Sperry, both deceased, and was born at Lake Hopatcong, N.J., on June 15, 1863. He was wedded to Miss Louisa Berg, of Scranton, on June 27, 1885. They came to Altoona in 1893. Mrs. Sperry survives with two sons: Clarence G., at home, and Stewart L., of 213 Ninth street, this city. Two brothers, David and Stephen, and two half-brothers, Lewis and Major Sperry, all of Dover, N.J., also survive. The Altoonan was a member of the First Lutheran church and the Modern Woodmen of America. Funeral services will be held at a time to be announced, at the home of his son, 213 Ninth street, where the body will be taken.
