Sprankle, 79, of RD2, Tyrone died Friday, July 1, 2005 at 9 a.m. at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born January 6, 1926 in Tyrone, a son of Zachariah and Vesta (Williams) Sprankle. He was married to Beverly A. Walk who survives in Tipton. Also surviving is a daughter, Peggy S. of Tipton; four sons: Ricky L. of Tipton, Randy W. and wife Brenda of Leechburg and Timothy C. and Jeffrey E. both of Bellwood; eight grandchildren; three great- grandchildren and a sister Mary Jane Reiti of Bridgeton, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by a brother Zachariah Sprankle, Jr. and two sisters: Marion DelBaggio and Vesta Martinez. Mr. Sprankle retired in 1989 from Westvaco, Tyrone as a store room clerk following 30 years. He was a life member of the Bellwood Sportsmen's Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and the Korean War serving as a private. He received the Purple Heart and three bronze stars. Charlie enjoyed being with his family and his miniature horse, J.R. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Feller Memorial Home. Burial with veteran's honors will be held following the services. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
