Mrs. Elizabeth Stall, an Aged Resident of Fostoria, Struck by a Train Yesterday Morning. Mrs. Elizabeth Stall, one of the oldest residents of Fostoria, was struck by the fifth section of No. 12 (?) Cleveland and Cincinnati express, shortly before 6 o'clock yesterday morning, and was instantly killed. The engine hauling the train, which was running at the rate of forty miles a hour, struck her fairly and hurled her a considerable distance. The train was stopped and the crew placed the body on the train, bringing it to this city. The remains were taken to Lafferty's undertaking rooms and prepared for burial. The unfortunate woman's head was crushed, one arm and one leg were broken and the body was almost cut in twain. Yesterday afternoon the body was sent to Fostoria, accompanied by Coroner McCartney, who went to search the house and to take charge of any money or valuables. Nothing of value except some jewelry was found and the coroner has decided that it is not necessary to hold an inquest. Mrs. Stall, who was about 70 years of age, was the widow of Levi Stall, formerly a prosperous resident of Bellwood. Up until some years ago she had abundant means, but in late years she was in very straightened circumstances and, when killed, she was gathering coal from the railroad, with which to build fire to prepare her breakfast. The good people of Bellwood have taken care of her for several years past. The deceased is survived by two sons, Harry and Howard, whose whereabouts are unknown. She was a member of the Presbyterian church. The funeral will take place this afternoon and the interment will be made in the Logan Valley cemetery. Altoona Times, Tuesday, July 21, 1903
