Steckman Dies in McKeesport Hospital of Injury Suffered Friday Crummel J. Steckman, formerly of this city and widely known here, died in McKeesport hospital, McKeesport, at 1:30 Saturday afternoon of a skull fracture, suffered by a fall Friday while working as a stonemason. Steckman resided here until fourteen years ago. He had charge of the stonework on St. Michael's Catholic church, Loretto, which Charles M. Schwab gave to that congregation. The body is to be brought here for funeral services and burial. No details of Steckman's accident were received by friends in this city, save that he was taken to the hospital unconscious, and never rallied. He was better known as "Jack" and was a native of Everett, Bedford county. He married Mrs. Joseph Weamer, of this city, who survives with two daughters, Misses Olive and Vyril, both at home, and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Smell, Bedford, as well as a half-brother, Charles Steckman, Roanoke, Va. Steckman was a member of the McKeesport lodge of Eagles, and Altoona court of Independent Order of Foresters. The body is expected to arrive here today and services will likely be held at the home of the late W. C. Brennecke, 1215 Sixteenth street at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Burial in Rose Hill cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Monday, January 20, 1919, page 12
