Mrs. Jane Stephens, after a week's illness from dysentery, died at the home of her son-in-law, John Roth, at Nealmont, Saturday morning at 11:50 o'clock, at the advanced age of 83 years. The deceased, whose maiden name was Jane Irvin, was born in Sinking Valley, and resided in this community all her life. In her early years, she was married to Jacob Stephens, who died in Tyrone in the early part of 1883. She is survived by three sons and three daughters, viz.: Mrs. John Roth, of Nealmont; Mrs. Mary Boyer, of Tyrone; Mrs. Thomas R. Murray, of New York city; William H. Stephens, of Philadelphia; Robert B. Stephens, of Bellwood, and John M. Stephens, of Altoona. Two brothers and two sisters also survive, viz: David, Samuel and Elizabeth Irvin, of Tyrone, and Martha Irvin, of Altoona. Deceased was a member of long standing in the First Methodist church in this place. The remains were brought yesterday morning to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Boyer, 126 West Tenth street. Funeral services were held in the First Methodist church this morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. W. M. Frysinger, D.D. Interment was made in Tyrone cemetery.
