All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ SAMUEL STETTER Samuel Stetter, 600 Washington ave., died Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Altoona Hospital, where he had been admitted earlier in the day, after suffering a heart ailment. He was born Nov. 21, 1919, at Altoona, a son of Michael and Rose Shultz Stetter. On Aug. 7, 1941, at Winchester, Va., he was married to Dorothy N. Shaner. Surviving are the widow, two daughters and a son, Mrs. Eugene (Nancy) Miller, Grazierville; Mrs. Richard (Susan) Ross, of Bellwood; Samuel Allen Stetter, at home; six grandchildren, and a brother and three sisters: Peter, and Mrs. Mary Poppenwimer, both of Fostoria; Mrs. Rose Hescox, of Bellwood; Mrs. Grace DiDomenico, of Homewood. He attended the former Evangelical United Brethren Church of Tyrone. He was an Army veteran of World War 2, a member of the Anderson-Denny Post 4559 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Howard Gardner Post 281 American Legion, of Tyrone. He was a member of Elks Lodge 212 of Tyrone, and Moose Lodge 25, the Blazing Arrow Hook & Ladder Fire Co., and the Unter Uns, of Altoona. He was employed by the Penn Central Transportation Co., as a machinist, at the East Altoona Shops. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, in charge of the Rev. Richard Felty. Burial will be in Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood, with military honors. There will be no public viewing. Friends are being received at the Stetter residence, 600 Washington Avenue.
