Stuart, 86, Altoona, died Monday, June 19, 2006 at Altoona Regional Health System, Bon Secours Hospital Campus, after a brief illness. He was born November 18, 1919 in Tyrone, son of John W. Stuart and Marybelle (Cowen) Stuart Harris. He married Roberta K. Barnhart April 5, 1948 in Winchester, Va. Mr. Stuart was a member of First United Methodist Church, Altoona. He retired in 1982 from Conrail. Mr. Stuart was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes. He received a Purple Heart. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and fishing. Mr. Stuart was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Marjorie L. Davies of Altoona; a son, Jack Stuart of Warriors Mark; seven grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, John Davies; a sister, Jane Greenawalt and a brother, Robert Stuart. Friends were received Thursday, June 22, 2006 at The Good Funeral Home, Inc., at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Funeral services were held today, Friday, June 23, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home by the Rev. Edward Preston. Interment followed at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Tyrone Daily Herald, June 23, 2006
