B. Stewart was broken yesterday morning by the death of their little daughter, Julia West Stewart, aged 4 years, 6 months and 22 days. The little one was playing around the house on Tuesday, and nothing serious was anticipated, until an early hour yesterday morning, when she was attacked by membranous croup. The violence of the attack defied the best medical skill, and in a few hours terminated fatally. The stricken household have the sympathies of the community in their sad bereavement. None feel the stroke more strongly than the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hawksworth and Mr. Alexander Stewart. The sweet child was conscious to the last, and then "Safe in the arms of Jesus, Safe on His gentle breast, There by His love overshadowed, Sweetly our darling went to rest." * * * * * * * * * * "This lovely bud, so young, so fair, Called hence by early doom; Just came to show how sweet a flower In Paradise could bloom." The funeral will take place from the residence of the parents, Fourteenth avenue, between Eleventh and Twelfth streets, to-morrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
