Stewart, an employe of the railroad company's machine shops, while adjusting a crossbeam, was caught between the deadwoods by another car being pushed against the one which he was working at, crushing his chest on the left side, breaking five ribs and bursting the left lung. The unfortunate man suffered intense pain til 5.30 o'clock, when death put an end to his suffering. He was upward of fifty years of age, and leaves a wife and six children to mourn his sad and sudden taking off. He was conscious to the last, and, apprehending his approaching dissolution, bade his friends farewell and breathed his last. The immediate cause of his death was hemorrhage from the crushed iung.
