Stiffler, the well-known Civil war veteran residing at Canoe Creek, and mother of former County Commissioner W. Howard Harpster, died on Sunday evening at 7 o'clock at the family home at Canoe Creek. Mrs. Stiffler had been in feeble health for the past six years, suffering from a complication of diseases. Mrs. Stiffler's maiden name was Clara Brown and she was born June 11, 1843. She was twice married, her first husband, William Harpster, a soldier in the Union army, died in one of the Rebel prisons in the south during the war. To this union, one son was born, W. Howard Harpster, former county commissioner, residing at Canoe Creek. She was united in marriage with Harrison T. Stiffler some time after the close of the Civil war and had resided in the present home at Canoe Creek ever since. The funeral services will be conducted in the United Brethren church at Canoe Creek on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
