Funeral services were held at the house this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. Source: Annie Whiteman, PABlair Rootsweb _____ COOK, Dorothy Mae (BAIRD), 1975 19 October 1975 Dorothy Mae (Baird) Cook of 2411 Horner Drive, died this morning, 19 October, 1975 at Altoona Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Cook retired as a bookkeeper from Automotive Supply Co. She was born March 19, 1911, in Dickerson Run, a daughter of Edgar E. and Minnie (Louden) Baird, and Married William R. Cook. Surviving are her husband, two children, Robert E. of Vienna, Va., and Mrs. Doris J. Johnson of West Covina, Calif.; seven grandchildren and a brother Chester of Altoona. Mrs. Cook was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She graduated fro Juniata High School in 1928 and the school of commerce in 1929. Friends will be received in the Saleme & Staebler Funeral Home Juniata. Source HC97-57 _____ COOK, Robert Allen, 1945 16 April 1945 Death came to Robert A. Cook, former sheriff of Blair county and well known in this community in Washington, D. C. this morning following a sudden heart attack. Mr. Cook, who resided for many years at 1118 Fifth avenue and more recently in Juniata gap, serving Blair county as sheriff for one term from 1930 to 1934 at the conclusion of eight years service as a clerk in the office of the county commissioners at Hollidaysburg. Before he accepted that employment in 1922, he had been an employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad company from the age of 17 when he became an apprentice in the Twelfth street machine shop. He had twenty years service with the company when he resigned to enter the courthouse. A member of the Republican county committee for some years, he was prominent in political, civic and fraternal activities. At the time of his death he was attached to the National Art Galleries in Washington in a position he had held since January (1945). Robert A. Cook was born in Altoona July 25 1873, the son of William and Elizabeth (Hodge) Cook. both deceased, his wife Minnie (Harris) Cook survives as do one son and three daughter, William R. of Juniata, Mrs. Selina Kay, Mrs. Martha Neher and Mrs. Viola McCartney, all of Altoona; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Lafferty of Richmond Hill, N. Y. and Mrs. Mary Kemmerling of Altoona; and seven grandchildren. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal church, of Logan lodge No. 490, F. and A. M. and the State Sheriff's association. The body will be brought to Altoona for funeral services and interment. Funeral services will be held at Hickey funeral home. Rev. John R. Leatherbury in charge. 13 Apr 1945 _____ HARRIS, Henrietta 1935 17 Jan 1935 Mrs. Henrietta Harris, wife of William K. G. Harris, proprietor of the Harris drug store at 2003 Union avenue, died at her home, 2105 Maple avenue, at 7:40 o'clock, last evening of complication of diseases after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona on Nov. 15, 1884, a daughter of Henry E. and Elsie (von Grevemeyer) Russell, and was united in marriage with Mr. Harris on Oct 28, 1905. Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Miss Henrietta B. Harris, at home and two sisters, Mrs. Roy E., Goettman and Mrs. Bertha Fay, both of the city. Mrs. Harris was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal church. The body may be viewed at the home where private funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in Rose Hill cemetery. _____ KAY, Selina E. (COOK), 1966 21 Oct 1966 Mrs. Selina E. Kay of 1219 8th Ave., died at 10 pm yesterday in Erie Hospital, where she was admitted at 11:30 am after having suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. She was born in Altoona Jan 9 1897, a daughter of Robert A. and Minnie A. (Harris) Cook, and married G. C. Kay who preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Stone of Erie and Mrs. Louise Manlorico of Fullerton, Calif; a son, William R. of Lakewood Ohio; 11 grandchildren, a brother, William R. Cook of Altoona and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Neher of Altoona and Mrs. Viola McCartney of Cumberland, MD. Mrs. Kay was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Friends will be received in the Mauk & Yates Funeral home. _____ NOTOPOLUS, Grace (STIFFLER), 1994 26 Nov 1994 Mrs. Grace Notopolus, 78, of 2309 11th St., died Saturday at Altoona hospital. She was born Feb. 19, 1916 in Altoona, the daughter of Lloyd Edward and Eva Mae (Harris) Stiffler. She married Gus Notopoulos on Jan 28, 1940 in Butler. He died Sept 1, 1986. Surviving are a son, George of Medina, Ohio; a daughter, Constance Drenning of Long Valley, N. J.; a brother, Lloyd of Magnolia Springs, Ala. and two grandchildren. There will be no viewing. Arrangements by Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Juniata. Interment at Grandview Cemetery. Also surviving are granddaughters; Stephanie Drenning in Pittsburgh and Amanda Drenning in Long Valley, N. J. _____ STIFFLER, Edward Koon, 1928 16 May 1928 Edward Koon Stiffler, retired PRR employee, died last night at 10:40 am at the home of his son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clabaugh [2302] Fifth avenue. Mr. Stiffler was born in Duncansville, Jan 28, 1851. He was married to Miss Laura Reed, November 4, 1871 at Duncansville. Eight children were born to them, of whom seven are living, Mrs. William McCullouch and Mrs. Arthur Olewine of Llyswen; Mrs. Francis McGarth, of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Randall Joyce, Mrs. Frank Clabaugh, Lloyd E. Stiffler and Miss Nellie Stiffler, all of Altoona. Fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive. He was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church and of Pennsylvania Railroad Relief. Funeral service will be held at the home, 2303 Fifth avenue, Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery. _____
