All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ EDWARD KOON STIFFLER A retired Pennsylvania railroad employee, died at the home of his son- in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clabaugh, of 2502 Fifth avenue, last night at 10:40 o'clock from a complication of diseases. He had been in ill health for the last three years. He was born in Duncansville, Jan. 28, 1851, and when he was a boy of 4 years, his parents removed to Iowa. When he was a young man he came back to Duncansville and secured employment with the Pennsylvania railroad in this city. Edward K. Stiffler and Laura Reed, who survives, were united in marriage on Nov. 4, 1871, at Duncansville. There were eight children born to this union of whom seven are living, together with fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Port Lewis, preceded him to the grave five years ago. The surviving children are Mrs. William McCullough and Mrs. Arthur Olewine of Llyswen, Mrs. Francis McGrath of Cleveland, O., Mrs. Randall Joyce, Mrs. Frank Clabaugh, Lloyd E. Stiffler and Nellie Stiffler, all of Altoona. He was a member of the First Methodist church and of the Railroad relief. Funeral services will be held at his late residence Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery. Mr. Stiffler had a long record with the Pennsylvania Railroad company, having had forty-nine years and six months' service when he retired seven years ago. He was a conductor on the Pittsburgh division for many years, later suffered an injury to a hand and he was transferred to tower service in the local yards.
