Died of infirmities due to old age at his home in Duncansville at 3 o'clock this morning. The deceased was born August 9, 1816. He was married November 1, 1838 to Miss Elizabeth Shaw of Freedom Township, who survives him. To this union was born eight children; William J., Peter, Mrs. Alfred Wilt, Mrs. Henry M. Wilt, Mrs. Harrison Biehl, George W., Mrs. George Sellers and James T. Mr. Stiffler was a soldier in the civil war, serving his country as a private in Company C, Thirteenth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. He took part in a number of engagements and was honorably discharged on July 14, 1865. In his death, Duncansville loses one of its most highly esteemed citizens.
