STIFFLER Died at his home in Hollidaysburg Saturday morning, of neuralgia of the heart. Mr. Stiffler was the son of Henry and Nancy Stiffler and was born at Frankstown township on March 29, 1814. In 1839 he married Rebecca, daughter of John and Maria Kinsel. The marriage was blessed by twelve children viz: Rev. James M. Stiffler, D.D. professor in Biblical Exegesis at Crozier Theological Seminary, Rev. William H. Stiffler, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Lewis C. Stiffler, of the same place, Mrs. Cyrus Mateer of Stiffler Station, Mrs. Jacob Ritter of Kecksburg, Westmoreland County, Mrs. Rev. W. D. Galloway of Homestead, PA, Mrs. William Chilson of Chicago, Miss Lizzie Stiffler and John B. Stiffler, at home; Mrs. G. W. Mitchell of Cresson Spring, PA; Joseph K. Stiffler of Delray, Michigan, and Robert C. Stiffler of Carson Valley, Pa. His wife died in August of 1890. Mr. Stiffler was an exemplary Christian and was a member of the Dunkard Church for 30 years past, and was always held in high esteem by the Brethren for his simple kindness, generosity and integrity. HOLLIDAYSBURG, Nov. 25. - John Stefler [sic], ex-Director of the Poor and the father of twelve children, who have filled important offices in the Baptist Church, died here to-day. Four sons are clergymen and two daughters are missionaries. The eldest son is Rev. Dr. James Stifler, of Crozier Theological Seminary. The deceased was 81 years old.
