STIFFLER Of 117 East Bell avenue, widow of Joseph C. Stiffler, died at the home of a brother, Jesse T. Nycum of Eighth avenue and Hill street, Juniata, at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon of pernicious anemia after several months' illness. She was born at Clearidge, Bedford county, on Feb. 8, 1874, a daughter of William H. and Elizabeth Nycum, but had resided in Altoona for the past forty years. On Dec. 23, 1897, she was united in marriage with Mr. Stiffler, who died in August, 1926. Surviving are two sons, Ralph L. and Clarence E. Stiffler, her father, three brothers and six sisters, Jesse T. and Edward B. Nycum, both of the city, Everett A. Nycum of Saltillo, Misses Edith and Lena Nycum, Mrs. Mildred Phillips, Mrs. Fred Shields and Mrs. Edna Thiese, all of the city, and Mrs. Bessie Smouse of Saltillo. Mrs. Stiffler was a member of the Second Avenue United Brethren church for the past thirty-eight years. Funeral services will be held at the Gilden funeral home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon with Miss Gertrude Mitchell, assistant pastor of the Second Avenue United Brethren church, officiating in the absence of the pastor, Rev. R. E. Penick. Interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery. The body may be viewed at the funeral home. Friends are requested to omit flowers.
