All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ OAKLEY WILLIAM STIFFLER, Who was well known to many Altoona people, having visited relatives here numerous times in the past, died at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Pitcairn hospital, of injuries suffered Friday in a gas explosion. He and a younger brother, Gaylord Stiffler, were working in a man-hole in Pitcairn when the accident occurred. Oakley was badly burned and was in a critical condition when rescued. His brother escaped with minor burns. Deceased was a native of Pitcairn and was born 19 years ago. He was a son of Roy and Ida Stiffler, who are living and reside in Pitcairn. He graduated from the Pitcairn High school last year. In addition to the parents, two brothers, Leroy and Gaylord, and one sister, Betty, all at home, survive. The remains will be brought overland to Altoona tomorrow morning and will be removed to the home of Mrs. Della Seese, 1521 Eleventh street, aunt of the deceased. Funeral services will be conducted at the Seese home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Monday, July 13, 1925
