He was born in Altoona on May 7, 1914, a son of Valentine and Della (Smith) Stiffler, and married Anna Sado on Nov. 26, 1944. Surviving are his wife, four children, Charles, Gary, Patricia and Trudy, at the home, his mother, Mrs. Della Rice, and a half- brother, Norman Fleck, of the city. He attended the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, was a member of the Newburg Fire Company, the 40 & 8 Society, a veteran of military service and employed at the A&P bakery.
