STIFFLER A former resident of Altoona, died at his home in Jersey City. N. J., on Sunday after an extended illness. He was born in Queen, Bedford county, on Oct. 16, 1884, a son of Calvin and Catherine (Claar) Stiffler, and was a retired freight conductor of the Pennsylvania railroad. Mr. Stiffler was twice married, his first wife being the late Della Smith. Surviving are his second wife, one son, Robert of Altoona, several grandchildren, and the following sisters, Mrs. Hattie Kist of Greensburg, Mrs. Bertie Brewer of South Fork, Mrs. Anna Treasure of Altoona, Mrs. Minnie Lear of Hollidaysburg, and Mrs. Edna Burket of Claysburg. Mr. Stiffler was a member of the Brethren church. Friends will be received at the Carn funeral home. Claysburg, after 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Altoona Mirror, December 16, 1952
