STINE Well known veteran of World war No. 1, died suddenly last midnight at his home, 3709 West Chestnut avenue, following a heart attack. Mr. Stine was born in Claysburg on Feb. 26, 1888, a son of David H. and Maria (Donner) Stine. He attended the Greenfield township schools and on Aug. 6, 1919, was united in marriage to Miss Anna Flo McConnell of Summithill, Pa., who survives with two sons, James R. and Harold E., both at home. Also surviving are the following sisters and brother: Mrs. Albert Lingenfelter and Robert Stine of Claysburg, Mrs. Fred Black of Roaring Spring and Mrs. Ralph Ickes of Lloydell. Mr. Stine was employed as a machinist in the Juniata shops. He was a member of Charles R. Rowan post, No. 228, American Legion, and the American Legion Works Veterans' association. Mr. Stine served in the last World war with company E, 66th railway engineers, and was twelve months overseas. He was a member of the Claysburg Evangelical and Reformed church. STINE - Funeral services for Herbert M. Stine of 3709 West Chestnut avenue, Altoona, World war veteran, will be held on Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Claysburg Evangelical and Reformed church in charge of the pastor, Rev. H. C. Carolus. Interment will follow in the Claysburg cemetery. The body may be viewed at the home after 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. Altoona Mirror, Tuesday, June 23, 1942
