The funeral of Mrs. Lydia Stoner, relict of the late John Stoner, took place yesterday from the Methodist church. The deceased was over 80 years of age, and was well known throughout the Cove as one of the most charitable and hospitable ladies within its borders. More than fifty years ago she connected herself with that branch of the Christian church known as the River Brethren, and has ever since lived a blameless life, endearing herself to all with whom she came in contact by her unassuming Christian manners. Her remains were followed to the grave by an immense concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. The services were conducted by Revs. Andrew Bassler, John and Abraham Bowers, the following gentlemen acting as pall bearers: David Wolfe, James Gibboney, Alexander Bobb, E. Delozir [sic], F. M. Bloom, David Burket.
