Schwab, the millionaire steel manufacturer and ex-president of the United Steel Corporation at Loretto, died Monday evening after an illness of 10 days. His ailment was typhoid fever of a most malignant type. Mr. Stormer was a man of fine stature and built and always enjoyed the best of health. He had been in the employ of Mr. Schwab for many years and was held in high esteem by the steel magnate. Mr. Stormer's principal duties on the farm was to look after the welfare of the stock. He was regarded as an expert in the care of horses and cattle. Up to the time he was stricken with the fatal illness he enjoyed the best of health. Ten days ago he became ill and took at once to his bed. Physicians were called in promptly and pronounced his ailment typhoid of a serious type. Doctors were in almost hourly attendance upon him until death ensued. The news of Mr. Stormer's death spread rapidly throughout the neighborhood of Loretto and expressions of regret were heard on all hands. Mr. Stormer was much loved and respected in the neighborhood in which he spent the major portion of his life. Mr. Stormer was born at Poplar Run, Blair County, 35 years ago. He was a son of John Stormer, one of Blair County's most prosperous farmers. At an early age he moved to Altoona with the family and was educated in the public schools of that city. At an early age he became identified with Mr. Schwab's interests and was in his employ continuously until the time of his death. He was a member of St. Michael's church, Loretto, and was foremost in all church work. Mr. Stormer is survived by his wife and two small children; his mother and three sisters. Mrs. Annie Stormer, his mother, makes her home at 2302 Sixth Avenue, Altoona. A. J. Stormer, the brother, is also a resident of Altoona. The sisters are: Mrs. Rosina Ettleman of Twenty-second Street, Altoona; Mrs. Eva Moyer of Portage, this county; and Miss Mary Stormer of Washington, Iowa.
