Stouch died at his late residence, 310 Chestnut avenue, this city, at fifteen minutes after 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, of heart failure. Soon after returning from the funeral of his daughter, Mrs. A. F. Peters, on Tuesday afternoon, he was taken with severe pains on his breast. During the night these pains moved to his bowels. He suffered considerably with them during the night and Wednesday morning, being able to get no relief until death came. In the death of Mr. Stouch there came to an end a long and useful life on earth. He was born at Lebanon, Pa., June 24, 1813, and was, therefore, aged 77 years, 8 months and 1 day. In his early life he learned the saddle and harness making trade and while he lived in Lebanon followed this trade. He was at one time sheriff of Lebanon county. He also served as coroner in that county. He was an active member of the Aid society existing there and also belong to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Lebanon. When near about 30 years of age he became a member of the Reformed church at Lebanon. About twenty-six years ago he moved to Altoona, since which time he has been in the employ of the Pennsylvania railroad company. For a time he was employed in planing mill No. 1; afterwards he worked in planing mill No. 2, and later, was employed in the upholstering room, where he was regularly at work until last Friday evening. He was one of the founders of Christ Reformed church in this city and also became one of the charter members of Trinity Reformed Mission organized here a little more than two years ago. He was an energetic, active and conscientious Christian man. Always at his place in his everyday work and in the church unless sickness or death prevented. His wife, three sons, John, Calvin and Jacob, and one daughter, Mrs. Matilda Snyder, together with a host of friends are left to mourn the loss of one whose memory will be fondly cherished. The funeral arrangements will be announced in to-morrow's papers. The sympathy of every one goes forth to the members of this doubly bereaved home and circle of friends. Stouch, a notice of whose death appeared in yesterday's issue, will be held in Trinity Reformed church on Saturday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock.
