He was born June 15, 1919, in Altoona, the son of Robert R. and Esther (Gilliland) Stout. He married Nancy M. Grove on May 15, 1946 in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Stout was of the Methodist faith. He retired in 1982 from Conrail as a boilermaker/blacksmith. Mr. Stout was a graduate of Altoona High School. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran, serving with the Fifth Pioneer Division during WWII and served in Iwo Jima campaign and the occupation of Japan. Mr. Stout was an avid golfer and was past club champion at the former McMahon's Golf Club. He was a past member of Logan Lodge, Valley Consistory and Jaffa Shrine, where he was a member of the Arab Patrol. Surviving are his wife; two sons: Robert P. and Franklin R., both of Altoona; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by two sisters: Perdetha Renner and Alice Rouzer. Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the William G. Bigelow II Funeral Home, Altoona. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home by the Rev. Glenn Gearhart. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery. Altoona Mirror, March 24, 2002
