Stringer, 83, of 2055 Adams Ave., Tyrone, Pa. died at 10 A.M. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003 at her residence. She was born June 16, 1920 in Huntingdon, Pa., a daughter of the late Harry E. and Nellie (Trimble) Johnston. She was married May 15, 1937 in Tyrone, to Ray E. Stringer who died Oct. 23, 1960. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Collier and her husband, William of Havre De Grace, Md., one granddaughter and five grandsons: Rachel Collier of Havre De Grace, Md., Donald E. Stringer, Jr., Ray E. Stringer, II and William D. Stringer, all of Tyrone, Timothy A. Stringer of Julian, Pa., Richard C. Stringer, Hollidaysburg, Pa. and seven great grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family being preceded in death by one son, Donald E. Stringer, Sr., three sisters, Kathryn Hamer, Bettilou Johnston, and Dorothy Turnbaugh and two brothers, Charles Johnston and Rev. Harry E. Johnston, Jr. She was retired from the Chicago Rivet & Machine Co. in 1983 after 31 years of service. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Aux. Post 4559; the American Legion Ladies Aux. Post 281; Seniority Club at the Tyrone Hospital; AARP, and a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. There will be no public viewing and services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Franklinville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements were made by the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, Pa.
