MRS. SUSAN (BROWN) STRONG, 1913, Blair County, PA

Mother of G. W. Strong Died at Tipton on Tuesday

Mrs. Susan Strong, mother of George W. Strong, vice president of
Farmers and Merchants National bank died at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Mary Cameron, at Tipton, on Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock of
old age.  Mrs. Strong had only been ill a couple of days when the last
moments came, she just fell asleep and passed peacefully away into
rest and the better world. Mrs. Susan Strong was a daughter of Jacob
and Martha Brown, pioneer settlers of Brush Valley township, Indiana
county, Pennsylvania.  She was born May 14, 1823, and was aged 89
years 7 months.  Mrs. Strong resided in Indiana county until 1903 when
she came to Tipton and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Cameron,
and with her son, G W. Strong, in Tyrone.  When a young girl, she was
united with the Lutheran church and in 1855, transferred her
membership to the Methodist Episcopal church.  In 1846, she was united
in marriage to Samuel Strong at Strongstown, Indiana county. Three
children were born to bless this union viz:  Mrs. Mary Cameron, of
Tipton; G. W. Strong, of Tyrone, and one son, John, who died in 1885.
The husband and father died in 1904.  Mrs. Strong was the last  member
of a family of six children.  Devoted to her church and family, this
splendid woman passed away rejoicing of those who have a perfect claim
on eternal life with her Lord and Master.  The funeral services will
be held at the home of Mrs. Mary Cameron at Tipton, on Friday morning
at 9.30 o'clock. and will be conducted by Rev. O. C. Miller, of East
Altoona, pastor of the Tipton Methodist church.  Interment will be
made at Bellwood.
