Given, 507 Eleventh street, Altoona. For more than a year, Mrs. Stroup had been an invalid and twice had been stricken by paralysis. Monday afternoon on way passenger, she had left Tyrone to make a visit to Mrs. Given, but shortly after her arrival in Altoona, she suffered a third stroke of paralysis, which proved fatal. The deceased was born in Snyder county this state, near Adamsburg, July 20, 1824, and was consequently 68 years, 5 months and 26 days of age. She was united in marriage when but 17 years of age, to William Stroup and by this union became the mother of five children, one of whom, a daughter, preceded her to the grave. Those surviving her are: John O. Stroup, assistant yard master on the Tyrone division at Tyrone; Mrs. James Cree and Miss Lizzie Stroup, also of Tyrone, and Mrs. J. Given, of Altoona, at whose home she died. She had of late been making her home with her children. She was a member of the Lutheran church, a good Christian lady, a kind and faithful mother and altogether one whose memory will long be kept green by a host of friends who had learned her worth. Funeral services were held at the home of J. Given yesterday morning and the remains were brought to Tyrone on main line express for interment. Tyrone Daily Herald, Tyrone, Pa., January 16, 1894
