"Barney" Stroup. 83, formerly of West 15th Street, Tyrone, and a resident of Valley View Home, Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona, since June 6, 1990, died Sunday, April 14, 1991, at 9:56 a.m. at Altoona Hospital. He was born October 23, 1907, at Tyrone, the son of Edward and Anna (Parks) Stroup. On April 14, 1927, at the Methodist Church, Ramey, he was married to Gladys A. Tillett. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and one son, Mrs. Jack (Phyllis) Moskel, Tyrone, and Donald Stroup, Rapid City, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren and four sisters: Mrs. Frances (Evelyn) Bressler, Mrs. George (Mary) Edwards, Mrs. Ellen Pollock and Mrs. Amber Harpster, all of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by a son, David, a grandson John, one sister and three brothers. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. He retired in 1972 from the Pennshire Clothing Factory, Philipsburg, following seven years of service. Prior to this he had been employed at the Reliance Manufacturing Company, Tyrone, for 40 years. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Feller Memorial Home with the Reverend Kraig L. Faust officiating. Internment will be at Beulah Cemetery, Ramey. Friends will be received at the memorial home Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Tyrone Daily Herald, April 15, 1991
