Jackson Stuart, Succumbs to Cerebral Hemorrhage at Home Yesterday Afternoon A. Jackson Stuart, a well known retired Pennsylvania Railroad company painter, dropped dead at the home of his son, W. C. Stuart, 3503 Fifth avenue, at 3:30 o'clock yesterday morning. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage with which he was seized while in the bath room. Mr. Stuart had not been feeling well for a few days and had been awakened by the blowing of the whistles at an early hour yesterday morning. Their continuation during the morning annoyed him considerable and at noon he was quite nervous. He remarked that he was glad the Americans were winning but the whistles had made him quite nervous. A little later he went to the bath room to wash his hands and while there was stricken and died. Deceased was born in Carlisle on May 27, 1847 and had resided here for many years. He entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad company as a painter in 1872 and worked until he retired at the age of 65 years. He was working in the Seventh street paint shop when he was retired from the service and since then had lived a retired life. He was a member of the P.R.R. relief association. His wife preceded him to the grave ten years ago and he is survived only by his son, W. C. Stuart, at whose home he died. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, services to be conducted at the house. Interment in Oak Ridge cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Saturday morning, July 20, 1918, page 16
