He was born at Icksburg on Aug. 2, 1871, a son of Rubin and Margaret (Karstetter) Swartz. He had resided in Altoona for the past thirty years, working as a blacksmith in the Fourth street shop of the Altoona works. Surviving are his wife and one step-son, Charles H. Trostle of the city. Mr. Swartz was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Logan lodge, No. 490, F. and A.M., Harrisburg consistory and Jaffa Shrine. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
