George Washington Taneyhill died at 4.40 a.m. at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Geo. Dalske, 414 Chestnut avenue, of diseases incident to old age. He was born at Martha Furnace, Nov. 7, 1842, and has been a resident of this city for over sixty years. He was formerly employed in the Altoona Iron foundry, his wife died Jan. 12, 1917. He was a member of the Second United Presbyterian church and is survived by the following children: Mrs. Fannie Diehl of Masontown, Pa.; Mrs. Annie Burket, Mrs. A. S. Johnson, Mrs. Ross Amos, Mrs. George Dalske, Robert, William and George, all of this city; 29 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. He was born at Martha Furnace, Nov. [sic] Private funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, by Rev. D. D. Kauffman. Interment in Fairview cemetery. Altoona Times, Monday Morning, October 7, 1918
