(1883 - 1907) Died at his home in Hensheytown at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning [May 1], after an illness of about three months of acute pulmonary tuberculosis. He was a son of James (deceased) and Louisa Taylor and was born July 23, 1883, near Bellwood. For a number of years he had been an employe of the Pennsylvania and Northwestern division, where he was deservedly popular. He was also an amateur base ball player of no small ability and will be greatly missed by the young men with whom he associated. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Bellwood. He was an everyday Christian, especially in his home, where his widowed mother mourns the loss of her only son, who had been, indeed, the staff of her declining years. He is survived by his mother and the following sisters; Mrs. Louise Armstrong of Latrobe, Mrs. Hattie Shorter of Altoona, Miss Selina of Philadelphia and Misses Marie, Corrinne and Annie, at home. Altoona Mirror, 2 May 1907 The Young Men's Christian association attended the funeral of James Taylor in a body. The services were largely attended and very impressive.
