Mrs. Jane Thomas died at the home of her son G. W. Thomas, 810 Second avenue, Altoona, Thursday morning at 5 o'clock of pneumonia. The deceased was born in Ebensburg, Pa., November 16, 1816, and was aged at death 82 years, 2 months and 29 days. She was the widow of the late Charles Thomas, of Sinking Valley, to whom she was married in 1833?. She resided with her husband in the vicinity of Blair and Elizabeth Furnace for over thirty years. In 1869 she and her husband engaged in farming near Tyrone remaining there until his death in 1884. In 1890 she relinquished the farm management since which time she resided with her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Lees, of Juniata, and her son George, of Altoona. She had many acquaintances among the older residents of Altoona and Tyrone who will bear her in kind remembrance for her many acts of kindness. She is survived by the following children: John W. and Alfred, Gardner, Pa.; Allen, Birmingham, Pa.; Aaron, Sinking Valley, Pa.; George W., Altoona; Jones B., McKeesport, Pa.; Mrs. K. Hopkins, Pittsburg, Pa.; Martin, Warriorsmark; Mrs. J. W. Lees, Juniata, and one brother, the Hon. Hugh Rogers, of Chesterville, O. Altoona Tribune, Thursday, February 23, 1899
