CATHARINE THOMPSON Mrs. Catharine Thompson, the oldest colored resident of Tyrone passed away at her home, 611 Washington avenue, at 3:20 yesterday morning of a complication of ailments from which she had long been a sufferer. The deceased was born at Harrisburg, March 18, 1843, in which city she was united in marriage to John Harry White and came to Tyrone Sept. 8, 1873. On December 8, 1886 Mr. White died, on the twenty-second anniversary of their wedding day. In 1833 [sic; probably 1893] she was united in marriage with C. R. Thompson who passed away here March 15, of last year. She is survived by one son and three daughters: John H. White, Mrs. Lillie Montier, Miss Hattie White, and Mrs. Nellie Condol, all of Tyrone. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. F. T. Cady at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. Interment in Grandview cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Tuesday, January 7, 1919, page 7
