At his home in Juniata on Saturday John H. Thompson died at the age of almost four-score years. He was born in Beaver county, January 12, 1812, and was consequently aged 79 years, 2 months and 9 days. Deceased was one of the first residents of Altoona, coming here when but few houses were built. For a number of years he was a boatman on the Juniata division of the Pennsylvania canal and was among the first men employed in the railroad shops here. He was thrice married and all of his wives are dead. He leaves a number of children, Mrs. Michael Emswiler, of this city, being a daughter. The funeral took place yesterday at 2 o'clock.
