  Death of John Thompson
  
    John Thompson, a well-known and highly respected citizen of this place, died 
  at his Residence on North Mercer Street on Sabbath last at 6 p.m.
    Mr. Thompson was born in Sandy Creek township, this county in Nov. 22, 1806.
  In 1831, while yet a young man, he left this county, and stopping a short time 
  at Lecchburg [sic], Armstrong county, but soon after located at Hollidaysburg, 
  Blair county.
    Here he remained till April, 1861, when he returned to this county and took up 
  his residence in this place, where he had ever since resided. Ever since 1832 he was 
  a consistent member of the M.E. Church, and since 1849 had been a member of the
  Masonic fraternity.  He leaves three sons and one daughter, citizens of Blair 
  county, this State, and three brothers and one sister, citizens of this county.
    His funeral services took place at the M.E. Church on Wednesday, and were 
  largely attended.  Revs. Bignell and Beck conducted the exercises.  He was buried in our 
  cemetery with Masonic honors.

  John was married to Eliza Ann White on 9 May 1833. Children were Wm. Finley
  m. Mary Ann Brady, Mary Catherine m. Hezikiah King, James Edward m. Elizabeth
  Winters and Thomas White m. Susan McGraw.
