At 11:10 o'clock on Saturday night, John Henry Thompson, with his home near Bald Eagle Avenue, between 13th and 14th Street, Tyrone, passed out of life at the Altoona Hospital, death being due to dropsy. Mr. Thompson had been ill for twenty-one weeks, three weeks of this time at the hospital. John Henry Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joshuway C. Thompson of Thomastown, was born January 30, 1876, at Greenwood Furnace, Huntingdon County. When a child he came with his parents to Blair County, and has resided in Tyrone and vicinity ever since. For years he has been a faithful employee of the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company, where he was well and favorably known by employers and fellow workmen. In September, 1900, Mr. Thompson was united in marriage to Ida May Gunter, of Tyrone. Three children were born to this union, all of whom with the wife and mother survive. The children are Reuben, Loretta and Paul, all at the family home. Surviving also are Mr. Thompson's parents and the following sisters: Mrs. Minnie Weierick and Mrs. Lowrie Rhodes, of Tyrone; Mrs. George Gates and Miss Lillie, both of Thomastown. One year ago Mr. Thompson became a member of the Columbia Avenue Methodist Episcopal church, and in this faith he lived and died. He was an affectionate husband and a kind father and a loving son and brother. Many were the fellow workmen who visited him during his long illness; among these he was highly esteemed. Funeral services, conducted by Reverend M. S. Derstine, pastor of the Columbia Avenue M. E. church, will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
